Art & Culture Report :
The 3rd solo painting exhibition of artist Bipad Bhanjan Sen Karmaker titled ‘Colour of Natural Disposition’ is being held at La Galerie of the Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the city’s Dhanmondi area now.
A total of 53 skilful paintings based on acrylic media of the artist are on display in the two-week long exhibition.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest, while eminent artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and noted theatre personality and President of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) Ramendu Majumdar were also present as special guests on the occasion.
Member the EC committee of the AFD, Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, presided over the opening ceremony.
Artist Bipad Bhanjan Sen Karmaker was born in a family of a jewellery artist in a village and was influenced by his mother who used to draw Alpana (traditional designs) at the time of Laxmi Puja while his father drew flowers on coloured papers for ornamental designs. This is how his parents nurtured his inspiration for painting. He then went on to study fine arts at the University of Dhaka.
His artistic thoughts were deeply influenced by his childhood memories of an ideal village, where he grew up in the midst of river, canals, green fields, schools, temples, mosques, play grounds, and peaceful coexistence between Hindu and Muslim communities.
He imbibed the natural beauty of his surroundings, observed the gentle breeze blowing from the south over the green fields and the winter morning when the dewdrops fell on leaves and the reflection of sunrays over them. He feels that the beauties of six seasons can only be seen in such villages as the one that is reflected in his painting.
In his canvases, he tries to depict the day-to-day life of common people leaving in Bangladeshi villages, so that the viewers from home and abroad may discover their culture, way of life and ultimate beauty.
The exhibition will continue till March 27.n
