A college student was stabbed to death at Laxmibazar in the old part of Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ranak, 17, was a candidate for Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) from New Paltan Line School and College. He was a resident of Kamrangirchar area in the capital.

The victim’s friend Masum said that they went to Shakhari Bazar to
take part in the spring festival of the country’s Hindu community.
Suddenly, 15 to 20 people started beating Ranak near Victoria Park and stabbed him, leaving him critically injured.
Ranak was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead around 1:30pm.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moudud Hawlader said that they were investigating the incident. The body had been sent to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, the police official said.
