A student of the Chittagong City College was killed in a road accident that took place at Bahadderhat Flyover area under Panchlaish thana here on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Satyapriya Das Tapu, 25, son of late Sawpan Das, hailed from Cox’s Bazar. He was a final-year student of Economics department of the college.
Mohiuddin Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge of Panchlaish Police Station, said that a speedy truck hit Tapu from behind while he was crossing the road around 12:40pm, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, the injured was taken to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Protesting against the death, students of the college put barricade on Probortak intersection and Medical College gate areas, thereby creating severe traffic jam in the area, the OC added.
