A student of Jessore New Town Degree College was stabbed to death near Jessore Collectorate at around 8:30pm on Monday.
Claiming the student as its activist, a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling party, brought out a procession in Jessore town carrying the body on Tuesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Saifullah, 22, son of Siddiqur Rahman from Mobarakpur village under Monirampur upazila in Jessore district.
Enamul Haque, Officer in-Charge of Kotowali Police Station, said that muggers stabbed Saifullah indiscriminately at night. He succumbed to his injuries at Jessore Medical College and Hospital soon after he was taken there by a rickshaw- puller.
