A college student was stabbed to death allegedly by his two friends at Chhoto Latifpur village in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district early Sunday. The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 20, son of Nurul Islam.
Police said, Masud’s two friends-Parvez and Amit came to his house for staying at night in absence of Masud’s family members.
Suddenly, they locked into an altercation when they were gossiping at midnight.
At one stage, Parvej and Amit stabbed Masud by a scissors, leaving him critically injured. Hearing screams of Masud, the neighbours went to the spot and caught Amit and Parvez. Masud was rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctor declared him dead, said SI Shahidul Islam of Kaliakoir Police Station.
On information police recovered the body. Parvez and Amit were handed over to police.
In another incident, a housewife was allegedly hacked to death by her husband over a family feud at Paschimpara village in Nalitabari upazila under Sherpur district early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Bilkis Begum, 25, wife of Ismail Hossain of the village. Police said that Ismail Hossain, son of late Tofazzal Hossain from Haluaghat upazila in Mymensingh district married Bilkis Begum, daughter of Amzad Hossain from Nalitabari upazila, seven years ago.
After four years of their marriage, Bilkis got a job at a garment factory in the capital and began to live in the capital. The couple used to fight with each other over the issue.
Bilkis along with his husband and daughter came to her parents’ house for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha at Nalitabari. Ismail picked up a quarrel with Bilkis’ over the same issue early Sunday and at one stage he stabbed her with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured. Later, she was taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
