A college student died while taking a bath in the pond of government Brajo Mohun (BM) College in Barishal city at around 3 pm on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Seemanto Karmakar, a second year HSC student of Govt Alekanda College and son of Arun Karmakar of the Sher E Bangla Road of the city, said Barishal Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azimul Karim.
Government Brajo Mohun College Principal Prof. Golam Kibria said the dead student was a student of Govt.Alekanda College. He went to take bath in the BM College pond with his friends at around 1:00 PM.
But when he did not go up from the pond after taking bath, everyone went to search for him and informed the fire brigade.
The divers of fire brigade recovering the student in critical condition took him to the hospital, where the doctor declared him as dead.
