A female college student allegedly committed suicide in Wapda area of Mohammadpur in Dhaka on Thursday noon (March 29).
The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Akhter, 28, a student of City College.
Deceased’s brother Ramjan Ali told Banglanews that she hanged herself from a ceiling fan after guardians scolded her for staying out of home alone for long time. Later she was rushed to Dhaka medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy where duty doctor declared her dead on-arrival.
DMCH police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the body is being kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy.
