Collective efforts to rehabilitate spinal cord injuries people stressed

Concerted efforts of all government and non-government entities concerned has become indispensable for proper rehabilitation of the people with spinal cord injuries.
Adequate measures and providing community support can also be the vital means of freeing the people from their plights and vulnerabilities.
The observation came in a policy dialogue styled “Say No to Scarf Injury and Prevention of Accident and Disability caused by Spinal Cord Injury” in Rajshahi on Monday.
Afsar Hussain-CRP (Rajshahi divisional branch of Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed ) organized the meeting at its conference hall. Rights, Rehabilitation, Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (RRED) Project supported the programme.
During his concept paper presentation, Samrat Awrangajeb, Divisional Coordinator of CRP, said the project intends to do welfare of the disabled persons caused by spinal cord injuries.
He depicted their living and livelihood related vulnerabilities and observed that there should be adequate measures and interventions for rehabilitation of the physically challenged people.
Akhter Jahan, MP, addressed the meeting as chief guest with Soma Begum, Branch Manager of CRP, in the chair. Additional Director of Department of Social Services Hasina Momtaj and Ward Councilor of Rajshahi City Corporation Md Kamruzzaman also spoke.
