The cold wave sweeping over the country may continue for three to four more days, as per the latest forecast of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The country’s lowest temperature 6 degree Celsius was recorded at Tetulia in Panchagarh district on Tuesday morning. Dhaka recorded 11.6 degree Celsius at the same time.
A light to medium cold wave is blowing over Faridpur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Jashore and Chuadanga districts, said meteorologist Rasheduzzaman.
“The cold wave will continue for the next 24 hours,” he said.
Met offices said that the sky would remain partly cloudy with dry weather prevailing across the country. The northwestern regions and the river basins might witness light to medium fog from midnight until morning.
It said also that parts of Rangpur division, and Jashore, Tangail and Dhaka districts were experiencing the cold wave more than other parts of the country.
The people of those areas are compelled to stay away from their regular work. The farmers are suffering from severe cold weather during their work in wet paddy fields.
Apart from these, many of the people, especially elderly ones and children, are suffering from cold related diseases.
