Cocktails blast near BNP office: JCD leader held

Some cocktails were exploded in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan on Monday morning and Sunday night.
Two cocktails were exploded at around 10:00pm on Sunday. Unidentified miscreants blasted the cocktails, hurting a staff of the BNP office. The injured was identified as Rezaul Karim, an official of the party office.
Two other cocktails were also exploded in front of the office on Monday morning. But no one was injured.
Mansur Hossain, sub-inspector of the Paltan Model Thana, said that some miscreants were trying to create panic by blasting the cocktails. After the incident, additional police were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.
Meanwhile, police arrested Mamun Talukder, president of Dhaka College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, from in front of the office. The JCD leader was arrested in the morning. He was brought to the Paltan Model Thana for interrogation, said the police of the thana.
