President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Showkat Mahmud was arrested with false, fabricated and conspiracial case as alleged by the leaders of the Chittagong Metropolitan Union of Journalists .
CMUJ demanded immediate unconditional release of Showkat Mahmud .In a jount statement signed by the CMUJ President Shamsul Hoque Haidery, General Secretary Shah Newaz, former BFUJ vice presidents Md. Eskander Ali chowdhury, Jahidul Karim Kochi & Shamsuddin Haroon and former Asstt. General secretry of BFUJ Mustafa Naim sent to press on Tuesday demanding the release of the BFUJ president.
The statement was told that the facist character of the present govt now clear and unveils to the nation following the closure of Dainik Amar Desh, Channel One, Islamic TV, Diganta TV, arrest of Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman , suppress the sagar-runi murder and lastly arrest of Journos Prabir Sikder and Showkat Mahmud. Meanwhile protest rally followed by human chain infront of CMUJ office at Noor Ahmed Sarak in city was held yesterday morning demanding the immediate release of the journo leader.
