Chittagong Metropolitan police has taken initiatives for introducing Pay Parking system in 40 selected places in the city to mitigate the alarming increase of traffic congestions in the city. Traffic Department of CMP has ascertained the proposed places for the parking place in the meantime which will be submitted to the City corporation , said additional Police commissioner (Traffic) Masudul Hasan. CMP sources said in important points of the city, these pay parking area will be earmarked with marking paint and tape boundary . Each parking area will be able to parked minimum 25 vehicles and maximum 250 with hour basis charges irrespective of vehicle categories.
From 9 am to 5 pm will be determined as peak hour and after 5 pm will be treated as off-peak hour. Sources further said following the demand of car owners and users, this system is going to be introduced in the port city in specific places rather in main through fares like laldighi ground, outer stadium, polo-ground, parade ground and less used city roads. Chief executive officer o city corporation Kazi Md. Shafiul Alam told that the initiatives of Pay parking is a praiseworthy idea of the CMP and city corporation will cooperate with them wholeheartedly for the welfare of the city dwellers.
