Chittagong metropolitan area has been blanketed with foolproof security to avert any untoward incident following Gulshan restaurant attack in Dhaka during the Eid vacations.
CMP Commissioner Md. Iqbal Bahar in a directive asked the police members to be more responsible and dedicated in their patrol duties during the vacations in city and senior officials have been asked to remain in the fields to avoid any nuisances.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) sources said they have deployed additional police personnel at nearly 100 strategic establishments including diplomatic offices, government offices, residential hotels, restaurants, religious institutions, railway station and airport in the port city.CMP installs cheque posts in the important entry points of the city immediately, sources said.
Besides, the law enforcement agencies and plainclothes police, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have also kept strict vigilance on airport, bus and railway stations and shopping malls.
The law enforcers have been put on maximum alert to keep surveillance on key points installations (KPI) of the metropolis.
Debdas Bhattacharya, Additional Commissioner of CMP, said immediately after the Gulshan restaurant attack, the law enforcers kept vigilance on all key Point Installations (KPI) and other important establishments.
Besides, CMP met in an emergency meeting with high officials to discuss the overall situation in the city on Saturday.
CMP sources said, 800 additional members of law-enforcers have been deployed in the city ahead of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr while more 800 additional members have been deployed after the Gulshan restaurant attack.
