CMP directs CNG auto-rickshaws to take fair fare

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) directed the drivers and the owners of CNG-run auto-rickshaws to follow the Fare Policy (2011) in the port city. Otherwise, the mobile court will take stern actions against the defaulters.
A meeting was held in this connection at CMP head quarters with Acting Commissioner of CMP Banaj Kumar Majumder in the chair on Monday morning. The leaders of CNG-run Auto-rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association attended the meeting. The meeting further directed the drivers and the owners to install meters in all vehicles.
The meeting also decided to prepare a fresh fare guidelines for the CNG-run auto-rickshaws in the city very soon.
It may be mentioned that the CNG baby taxies and the rickshawpullers have created anarchy in demanding fare from the passengers in the port city, Chittagong after ban on movement of battery-driven rickshaws. Moreover, the CNG baby taxies are running without meters in the city streets.
Several lakhs of passengers are suffering for the high rent that was collected by the CNG baby taxi drivers in the port city.
Presently ban on movement of battery driven rickshaws in the port city, the baby taxi drivers and the rickshawpullers are taking the the benefit imposing a heavy toll on the innocent passengers.
The city dwellers observed that the authority concerned should take immediate step in this regard.
