A teacher of the Chittagong Medical College has been attacked at his home.
Assailants hacked Tarek Shams early on Monday in his home in Chittagong’s Halishahar area, said police.
The medical college lecturer has been admitted with cut injuries at the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
“His injuries are severe,” CMCH Director Shahidul Gani told.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Arefin Jewel said that Dr.Shams and his wife live in a ground floor apartment and his parents live upstairs.
He said that the wife was not home on Sunday. “Around 5am, Shams opened the door after someone knocked. That is when the assailants hacked at him with sharp weapons.”
The police official told that it was not a case of robbery. “We are looking whether it was due to professional rivalry or personal feud.”
