Clean city!

Staff Reporter :
No doubt, the inhabitants of the capital city are as much responsible as the City Corporations to keep the mega city clean. But the real scenario is different. A section of dwellers make the city dirty and unclean every day.
Particularly, the vagabonds and homeless people, who usually pass their days and nights on the footpaths or road islands, give the adjacent area a filthy look.
They throw unwanted objects, packets, polythene bags, pieces of paper, etc on the roads, streets and everywhere. These people in general do not have necessary civic sense and education in cleanliness.
But strangely, the two City Corporations [Dhaka North and Dhaka South] also are doing the same behaviour. In fact, the DCCs failed to take any pragmatic step till the date so that they [vagabonds and homeless people] can change their habits.
Even, there is no measure of punishment in force, like other international cities, to keep clean the environment.
The picture taken by our photographer shows that dirty and smelly blankets [kantha] are hanging from the railing of Khilgaon Flyover which are given by the footpath residents for drying in the sunshine.
