CJ suspends judicial functions in honour of late Justice Nazmul

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has suspended all the judicial proceedings of the High Court and the Appellate divisions of the Supreme Court to mourn the death of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan who died in a city hospital on early hour of last Friday.
Md Ali Akbar, Registrar General of the Supreme Court, has issued a notification to this effect on Sunday morning.
Justice Ahasan, a judge of the High Court division of the Supreme Court, died at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital at 6:15am on Friday, said a press release issued by Supreme Court spokesperson Mohammad Saifur Rahman.
Justice Ahasan was infected by Covid-19 virus recently and got admission to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for treatment.
He was among the four judges who were recently elevated to the Appellate Division on January 9 this year. However, Justice Ahasan could not take his oath as he was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 infection.
Saifur said that his appointment as an Appellate division judge could not be effective since he was not sworn in as judge because of his Covid infection.  
Justice Ahasan was scheduled to retire on February 14. He was appointed as additional judge of High Court division on April 18, 2010 and he was regularized as permanent judge on April 15, 2012.
He was buried at the Muslim graveyard in Barishal after several Namaz-e-Janazas.
