More rain across country forecast: City floating on water!

Most of the city areas were inundated due to incessant rainfall, triggered by active monsoon, causing immense sufferings to commuters on Monday.
The city roads, lanes and bylanes in different parts of the capital went under ankle to knee-deep water following the rains that started around 12:30 pm.
The worst affected areas included Malibagh, Kakrail, Khilgaon, Rampura, Motijheel, Arambagh, Fakirapul, Farmgate, Dhanmondi 27, Agargaon, Mirpur, Kazipara, Begum Rokeya Sarani, Karwan Bazar, Shantinagar, Rayerbazar, Jatrabari, Badda and some parts of old Dhaka and some other lower-lying areas.
Hundreds of commuters faced trouble in reaching their destinations due to waterlogging and lack of transport amid the dowmpour. Besides, rickshaw pullers and CNG-auto drivers charging extra fare from the passengers amid torrential rain added to their sufferings only.
The Met Office recorded 28 millimetres of rainfall in the captail in the last nine hours starting from 6 am.
However, it recoreded the higehst 149 milimitres rainfall in Chandpur district from 6 am to 12pm on Monday.
According to a special bulletin of the Met Office, heavy to very heavy rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Barishal, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions due to active monsoon during the next 24 hours commencing 12 pm today.
