City bus service for students soon, says DNCC Mayor

Mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq said, reliable and high-quality city buses would be provided soon to avoid the hassle and expense of driving through increasing congested streets in the City. He announced this in a Fresher’s Orientation Program of East West University at Aftabnagar in the city on Thursday.
Annisul Huq as chief guest of the program said, three thousand high-quality new buses will be running this city shortly and a thousand of those will be air-conditioned. And these buses will be operated by just five companies instead of 180 companies at presence. As a result, This will reduce the suffering of the transport and traffic. In addition, he also declared that there will be no garbage on the streets of the city.
Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor of EWU inaugurated the orientation program while Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of Board of Trustees of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank chaired. The objective of the program was to welcome the new students and orient them to the university facilities, faculty members and academic system.
Speakers welcomed Fresher’s on the EWU campus and encouraged them to try to work hard, be worthy citizens of the country. They also urged the newly admitted students to make the best use of the University resources and emphasized the need for high ethical standards.
In this Spring Semester 2016 arround 1300 students got admitted at the graduate and undergraduate programs in 12 different departments in this university.
Members of Board Trustees, Treasurer, Deans of faculties, Chairpersons of departments, Faculty Members and Administrative Officers of this University were also present on the occasion.
