City Bank files case over news on Pori Moni

The City Bank Limited has filed a case for allegedly spreading propaganda on internet involving actor Pori Moni and managing director of the bank.
The case was filed by City Bank’s First Vice President (Head of Court) Gazi M Shawkat Hasan on Saturday (August 14) night with Gulshan Police Station in the capital.
The case was filed under the Digital Security Act.
Gulshan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abul Hasan confirmed about filing the case.
He said the accused in the case statement was mentioned as “unidentified.”The case statement said that attempts were made to assassinate the characters of the senior officials of the City Bank through social media.
Several video links were also mentioned in the case statement.
Earlier, the City Bank filed a general diary (GD) over the same issue.
However, it was mentioned in the GD that a “vested quarter was trying to extort from City Bank Ltd through spreading false and fabricated information.”
Several news outlets published and uploaded news involving arrested actor Pori Moni and City Bank MD and CEO. It was mentioned in the news that the City Bank MD Mashrur Arefin had allegedly gifted a luxury car to actor Pori Moni.
Later, Mashrur Arefin denied that he had gifted any car to actor Pori Moni.
He also said he had never seen Pori Moni, had not heard her name before the “Boat Club” incident, and had never talked to her.
“I do not have a car. I use the car my bank has allocated to me. At the end of my bank job, I will definitely take out a bank loan to buy a car and ride it,” he wrote on his Facebook post.
