Circus elephant tramples 3 to death in Bagerhat

UNB, Bagerhat :Three people, including two women, were killed as an elephant of a circus troupe attacked three villages of Mollahat and Sadar upazilas on Saturday morning.The deceased were identified as Mizanur Rahman,35, son of Ful Miah, a resident of Bashabari village, and Kusum Biswas,61, wife of JatindranathBiswas, a resident of Kamalpur village in Mollahat upazila, and Monwara Begum,45, wife of Piyar Ali, a resident of Jatrapur village in Sadar upazila.Officer-in-charge of Mollahat Police Station ANM Khairul Anam said an elephant of a circus troupe run by one Kamal Molla, a resident of Mollahat upazila, attacked Bashabari, Kamalpur, and Jatrapur villages, and trampled three people one by one at about 6:00 am, leaving them dead on the spot. Informed, police recovered the bodies and sent those to a local hospital. Police also caught the elephant with the help of villagers.
