CID declines to share Tonu’s DNA test report with local hospital

UNB, Comilla :Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday declined to share with Comilla Medical College Hospital’s Forensic Department its DNA test report that found rape evidence on the body and clothes of Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu.The CID, which is now investigating the sensational murder case, informed its decision to the hospital authorities through a letter, Kamoda Prosad Saha, a professor of Forensic Department of the hospital, told reporters. He said they sought the CID’s DNA test report which found rape evidence to take help from it before presetting Tonu’s second autopsy report. “The CID has asked us to collect its report after completing all necessary legal procedures through court.” Kamoda, also the head of the board formed to conduct Tonu’s second autopsy, said they will decide about submitting their autopsy report the next working day.Earlier on Mandy, the CID said they have found rape evidence on Tonu’ s body in their DNA test though the first autopsy report said there was no rape sign in her body. “We’ve found three men’s semen in the dresses and underwear of Tonu in the DNA test conducted at the CID Dhaka laboratory,” special police super of Cimilla CID Nazmul Karim Khan told UNB over phone on Monday night. He said they matched the blood found on the dresses and underwear of Tonu with her teeth to be sure that the clothes belonged to the college girl.Sohagi Jahan Tonu, second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment area on 20 March.
