Chopped dead body of a man recovered from a crop field at Meghiya village of Madhavpashsa under Barisal Airport police station on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Harun Molla, 44, son of late Kadam Ali Molla of the area and a broker of land selling and purchasing business.
Matiar Rahman, Barisal Airport police station officer in charge, said police recovered the dead body at about 2:00 AM and sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy at about 10:00 AM Thursday.
An iron rod and a napkin (gamchha) were found at the spot near the dead body with chopping signs.
Till this report no case was lodged and police suspected the victim was chopped and strangled to death over business disputes.
Police quoting family sources said Harun Molla went out from home on Wednesday afternoon and family members started searching for him as he failed to return home till midnight.
