The 61-team first phase of Sailor-BFF Under-15 National Football Championship began on Thursday at seven zonal venues across the country with hosts Chittagong making a good start beating Laxmipur by 3-1 goals in Chittagong zone opener.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasiruddin inaugurated the Chittagong zonal match at MA Aziz Stadium in the port city in the afternoon.
At Muktijoddha Smriti District Stadium in Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj notched an 8-3 goals victory over Sirajganj in Rajshahi zone opener.
Palash, Ahad and Nishan scored two goals each while Humayan and Ashiq netted one each for the winners and Aminul, Raj and Uzzal scored one goal each for the losers.
At Tangail District Stadium, hosts Tangail crushed Mymensingh by 5-0 goals.
Hridoy and Joy struck two goals each while Shihab netted the other goal for the winners.
At Gopalganj Stadium, Barisal outplayed Shariatpur by 6-1 goals. Hridoy made a hattrick scoring three goals while Raquib and Mehrab netted one each for the winners and Rana netted the consolation goal for the losers.
At Moulvibazar Stadium, Habiganj beat Narsingdi by 2-0 goals with Brindaban and Saim scoring one each.
At Thakurgaon Stadium, Panchagarh routed Kurigram 8-1 goals. Abu Taleb made hattrick scoring three goals.
At Chuadanga Stadium, Hosts Chuadanga beat Kushtia by 3-1 goals in tie-breaker as the match was locked in goalless position in the scheduled time.
Meanwhile, the Jessore zone matches will begin today (Friday).
Sixty-one district teams (excluding Bhola, Bogra and Jhalakati), split into eight zones, are taking part in the first phase on knockout basis.
During the first phase, BFF coaches will pick some U-15 players by trial to form Bangladesh teams for SAFF U-15 and AFC U-15 Championships.
