The experts of the Chinese Power Plant company-JINDUN visited the proposed economic zone area in Mirsarai, Chittagong on Tuesday to ascertain the built of 1`3000 MW capacity coal turbine power plant .
The visiting experts of the Chinese company showed keen interest to start the ground breaking of the proposed plant by next 3months.
The Chinese team headed by its chairman Mr. Jue Zian and 3 others .
The Chinese team told the media that if the site selection is finalized, the work may be started by next 3 months. JINDUN will provide financial and technical assistance in the power plant.
Among others, Deputy Secretary of BEPZA Malay Chowdhury, Mirsarai UNO Zia Ahmed Sumopn, President of Upazila AL Akter Rahman, Acting Upazila Chairman Shaheen Kakli, and other local govt officials were present during their visit.
In this connection , Minister for Public Works Engr. Mosharaf Hossain said the power crisis will end in the country if the giant coal based power plant is built in the economic zone at Mirsarai, a sources said.
On the other hand , govt is mulling if any bad affect cause the environment or locality if coal based power plant is built there.
