Staff Reporter :Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi will arrive in Bangladesh on a three-day visit on December 27. He is scheduled to attend a bilateral meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali the next day.The Bangladesh foreign ministry source said, Wang Yi is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali said,”The discussions will cover establishment of the deep sea port at Sonadia in the Bay of Bengal, Chinese investment in Bangladesh, trade gap,, economy, science and technology co-operation, and other bilateral issues.He further said, China is investing about four billion dollars in six projects. They are 1320 megawatt coal electricity project at Kolapara upazilla in Potuakhali district, the National ICT infra-network for Bangladesh Government Phase-3, water purification project of Rajshahi WASA, Tunnel project of multiple lanes under the Karnaphuli river, second railway bridge project on the Karnaphuli river at Kalurghat, Chittagong, the Chittagong-Ramu-Cox’s Bazar and Ramu-Gundhum double gauze railway establishment project. Moreover, the visiting diplomat may also meet some cabinet members. Earlier in June, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to visit Bangladesh in her meeting with him in China.They will also discuss about the progress in implementing the agreements signed during Sheikh Hasina’s China visit. According to the sources, the two foreign ministers may discuss about the Chinese premier’s visit to Bangladesh.
