Attack on minority family in Chitalmari

Three women belonging to a minority family were injured, a shop was ransacked and a crushed was set on fire in the village Khramkhali, adjacent to Chitalmari bazar under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district when some 15/20 muscle men led by one Mostafa Molla of the same village attacked their house in a broad daylight on Friday.
 As a result, the inmates of the house are in great fear and anxieties. They were, however, admitted to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
Locals and police said , there had been prevailing an enmity between one Uttam Saha of village Kharamkhali and his neighbour Mostafa Molla over the possession of a disputed plot of lands for long. Very recently the matter was amicably settled with the help of some local respectable personalities and the local administration and the disputed plot of land was divided into two plots and boundary fencing was erected. In this connection both the concerned persons put their signatures on a compromise bond. But on Friday at about 10 am taking the opportunity of the absence of the male members including Gautam Saha from the house (of Gautam Saha) Mostafa Molla accompanied by some 15/20 muscle men raided the area, demolished the boundary fencing of the disputed plot of land, ransacked an under construction shop and set fire on a cowshed belonging to Gautam Saha. Not only that but also the muscle men beat the women inmates of the house when they (women) tried to resist them (muscle men). As a result, three women were injured. They are : Gautam’s wife Mina Saha (35), his mother-in-law Shyamali Hazra (55) and Banani Saha (38), wife his brother-in-law. The local people admitted them to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex for their treatment. It is reported that a preparation is being taken to lodge a complaint with the local PS in connection with the incident.
Being informed of the matter Rezaul Karim, Officer-in-charge of Chitalmari PS visited the place of occurrence and deployed police there in order to keep normal the situation of the place.
Harendra Nath Rana, convener of Chitalmari Upazila unit of the National Hindu Maha Jot and other leaders of the organization visited the spot and strongly condemned the incident and demanded the arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits responsible for the incident.
