China-Bangladesh study centre at DU

A new centre named “Centre for Chinese and Bangladesh Studies” has been established at Dhaka University (DU).
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman and Yunnan University President Lin Wenxun jointly unveiled the plaque of this centre at a function held on the 20th instant at the VC’s lounge.
DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (academic) Prof Nasreen Ahmad, Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof Nisar Hossain, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Prof Iffat Ara Nasreen Majid, Member of the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial Committee Li Xiaosan, Chinese Ambassador in Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang, Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province Li Jiming and Chinese Director of Confucius Institute of DU Dr Zhou Mingdong Mindy were present, among others, on this occasion.
During the meeting, DU VC and Yunnan University authorities discussed the possibilities of forming an alliance titled “South Asia and Southeast Asia University Alliance” to develop academic and research activities of this region.
The possibilities of establishing “China-Bangladesh Arts and Culture Exchange Centre” at DU were also discussed in the meeting.
The DU VC said the friendly ties between Bangladesh and China have been prevailing for long.
