Staff Reporter :
A High Court bench on Wednesday commented that all divorced families’ children have been facing the same difficulties like Dhrubo and Lubdhok, who placed their opinions in the court that created a highly emotional scene in the courtroom on June 25.
The reaction of the two children reflected thousands of children’s
difficulties across the country, the HC bench comprising Justice J B M Hassan and Justice Khairul Alam also commented.
The judges passed the comments while hearing the petition relating to the restoration of the relationship between the parents of Salim Sadman Dhrubo, 12, and Lubdhok, 8.
Following a prayer made by the two children, the same bench on June 25 asked their parents to consider the interests of their children and adjourned the hearing on a petition filed by Kamrun Nahar Mollika, mother of the children, who was divorced by her husband one year ago.
On June 25, the HC bench gave time to the parents of the children till yesterday to improve their relationship and asked the lawyers of the both sides to inform the court thereabout.
During yesterday’s hearing, the HC bench asked the lawyers whether there is any sign of improvement between Mehedi Hasan and Kamrun Nahar.
Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, counsel for mother of the children and Advocate Taposh Kanti Das, counsel for father of the children, told the court that some development were happened and it would take time for the restoration of the good ties between the husband and wife as it is a family issue.
The court said, this is not an isolated story regarding the hardship facing children in a divorced family. There are many children across the country like these two children. The two children got opportunity to submit their prayer in this court, whereas thousands of children do not get the opportunity though they meet tremendous difficulties due to the divorce of their parents, the HC bench added.
Both of you are educated and have highest degree. So, people of the country are waiting for your decision,” the HC bench told the parents. Later, the HC bench fixed August 1 for next hearing over the matter.
Kamrun Nahar Mallika filed a writ petition with the HC seeking guardianship of the two boys as Mehedi Hasan had sent them to their grandfather’s home in Magura district before giving divorce to her on May 12 last year.
Following the HC order, police produced the two children in the court on June 25 and heard the opinions of the two children, and the two boys told the court that they did not want anything except their parents’ unification.
