Children of Rasulpur village waiting for school

Rasulpur village is situated on the southern border of Fenarbank UP of Jamalganj, Sunamganj. There are 150 families living there. But there are no government primary school for more than 300 children.
Children of this village are deprived of education due to lack of institution. There is a public demand of establishing a school but authorities are delayed in setting up schools. In this, the locals are worried about the future of their child.
Four decades ago some families started living in Rasulpur. Agriculture and fisheries are their major occupations. From the beginning, the village is neglected from various development works. There are only two mosques and a cemetery. There is no primary school.
In the morning, the children are worked in collection of shaloo, snails and abalone, and singra (local aquatic fruits) in the morning. Many people graze cattle in the field.
The village’s senior person, Abu Dhan said, ‘We are ignorant people. Our kids will also be ignorant. There is no school in the village.’
Motowalli Nuruz Ali of the mosque, Saqkas Ali and Abdul Hekim said that if there is no school for children, they cannot become perfect people. We gave land for the establishment of schools. But the school is not being built for four years.’
Jahanur Kazi said, ‘We have a school in our house. Only 30 children studies here. This is the school of RDRS. In the meantime, the village’s senior persons sent people to the upazila for setting up the school. They gave us hope that sand, rod, cement, stone are coming in the rainy season, will come in the autumn. Local MP spoke about giving electricity. But schools are much needed.’
Upazila Education Officer Mir Abdullah Al Mamun said that at least 2000 people need in the village for establishing a school. Which did not happen in Rasulpur. Apart from this, there is a problem in giving land for the school.
Upazila engineer Abdus Sattar said, ‘The construction of government primary school in Rasulpur village has been tender for six times. No contractor has been appointed to make the allocation of Tk 47,50,000.’
