Child Affairs Journalists’ Network formed

A Child Affairs Journalists’ Network was formed on Wednesday aiming at highlighting different child related issues in both print and electronic media to sensitize policy makers and other stakeholders for being more proactive in ensuring children rights.
Mahfuza Jasmine, senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) was made convenor of the network while Mostofa Kamal Mollik, Senior Staff Reporter of Channel I and Mahmuda Moumita, senior Broadcast Journalist of Independent Television was made co-convenors while Shipon Habib, Staff Reporter of Jugantor was member secretary.
The bssinfotainment, newly opened open portal of the BSS has taken the initiative to form the platform with print and electronic media journalists working on children issues with support from Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) with the financial support of World Vision and AusAid.
The Network was formed at an orientation programme, moderated by BSS Special Correspondent Shahriar Shahid, held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city.
Director news of Channel Ekattor Syed Ishtiaq Reza and BSS Chief Reporter Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury spoke as the resource persons. Mahfuza Jasmine moderated the programme while BSS Senior Reporter Tanzim Anwar discussed operational planning of the Network.
World Vision Project Manager Augustine Subash Purification and CSID Project Manager M Akram Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
Initially, under the network, the journalists will do field visits at different parts in the capital to collect news on various issues linked with children.
