Chiefs of three services call on President

Chiefs of the three services on Monday called on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day.
Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, and Chief of Air Staff Marshal Abu Esrar called on President Abdul Hamid, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces at 11.30 am.
During the meeting, the President greeted all the members of armed forces on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day. President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
President Hamid said the Armed Forces are also playing an important role in the international arena crossing the boundary of the country which has brightened the image of the country in the world.
He urged the chiefs of three services to put cordial efforts with a view to continuing the development of the armed forces in the future.
The chiefs apprised the President of the activities of their respective forces.
They also said the armed forces are moving forward under the Forces Goal-2030.
Secretaries concerned of the President’s were present.
On this day during the War of Liberation in 1971, the Bangladesh Armed Forces comprising army, navy and air force, came into being and launched an all-out attack on the Pakistani occupation forces.
After independence of the country, this historic day is being observed as the Armed Forces Day every year.
