M M Jasim :About 201 cheats have got appointment as teachers in different MPO-enlisted non-government educational institutions, including schools, colleges and madrasahs, submitting fake certificates. It was revealed when the Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) identified about 201 forgery cases where the teachers with fake certificates are serving in the non-government educational institutions.According to the inspection report, recently carried by the DIA, under the Education Ministry in some districts, several teachers have been serving for eight to ten years and drawing salaries and other benefits. About 130 fake certificate holders have been drawing monthly pay orders (salary from the exchequer) while others have been getting remuneration from the fund of respective job stations, the report added.Most significantly, the major number of forged appointments have been made in the rural areas. The DIA officials also apprehended that the number of fake certificate holders would be increased if they continue the inspection at all educational institutions across the country. In this backdrop, the DIA has sent the list to the Education Ministry and the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) urging to take stern action, official sources said.Professor Md Mafiz Uddin Ahmed, Director of DIA, said, “We have sent the list of the teachers who submitted fake certificates and continuing in jobs to the Education Ministry. We have also asked the Ministry to dismiss their jobs and take stern action against the unscrupulous teachers.””It is a matter of deep concern that the teachers have got job showing fake certificates. The number of the fake certificate holders is increasing day by day. We identified more than two hundred teachers,” he said.The DIA inspectors found that some teachers submitted university certificates including Dhaka University and Rajshahi University to get their jobs. One Md Salauddin, an assistant teacher of Shakhipur Islamia High School in Shariatpur, got his job submitting fake certificate eight years ago. He showed that he passed honours from the Dhaka University. He took Tk nine lakh and 75 thousand from the government fund, according to inspection report.In another case, Abul Kalam Azad, teacher of Majar Sharif Technical and Business College in Natore, managed to get job submitting fake certificate of Rajshahi University. Besides, Shahin Sultana, a physical education teacher at Shahapur High School, got a job with fake certificate from National University. ‘We have conducted the inspection after receiving allegations from different quarters against the teachers of different educational institutions in some districts. Our inspectors identified the teachers in job with fake certificates,’ DIA Deputy Director Kamruzzaman said on Wednesday elaborating the process of inspection.He said, “The DIA officials have cross-checked all the bachelor’s, master’s and diploma certificates and also the certificates given by the non-government teachers registration and certification authority.”When contacted, DSHE Director (Administration) Professor Ataur Rahman said, “We are sending show-cause notice to the fake certificates holders. We will take tough action after getting answers from them.”The DSHE official further said that all the MPO-enlisted teachers would be asked to refund the money to the exchequer before legal actions were taken against them.`We are also looking into the matter how these teachers managed to get jobs and MPO facilities with fake certificates. All the offenders will be find out and punished properly,’ he said.Officials said that the teachers’ registration certificate is mandatory to get jobs at the MPO-enlisted non-government secondary schools, colleges and madrasahs.Meanwhile, the Ministry officials said that they have received the list and would take a decision about the matter after holding a meeting with DSHE officials soon.
