Several hundred poor women of Dimla and neighbouring Hatibandha Upazila also deceived members of Race Sanchay O Rindan Samobay Samity Ltd, a co-operative society registered with Co-operative Department besieged the office at women college road in Dimla Upazila town in morning demanding return of their deposit money and benefit on Thursday .
They became worried as president of the Society Mahiqul Islam Badhon (45) was arrested on forgery charge on Wednesday in a case filed by one Mahamudul Islam (40) .
Seeing their outrage, manager and officials fled away leaving the office locked .
While talking to this correspondent, Hosne Ara (30), a beneficiaries group leader from Sheikh Sundar village of Hatibandha upazila said, there are 100 members in my group whose total deposit since 2015 is Tk 4 lakh and at beginning, authority made commitment to give Tk 200/ as benefit against one thousand taka per month but they gave nothing though two years passed.
Another beneficiary Babita Begum (28). of Dalia village in Dimla upazila said, ” My deposit is Tk 55 thousand since 2017 and recently my truck driver husband faced accident and now I want to withdraw total money for treatment but they didn’t and finding no way I prayed to return my deposit money only but yet they just harass me for last three months.”
Beneficiaries like Hawa Khatun (40) of Niz Sheikh Sundor village, Beauty Begum (30) of Khalisha chapani village, expressed fear saying that samity president Mahiqul Islam Badhon was arrested on forgery charge and they now bewildered whether get return of the money.
