BSS, Dhaka :
Chattola East Zone is eying to make a giant leap towards the final of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games male cricket event as they will take on Chandrodip South Zone today at the Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium (ARSS) in Barishal.
Chattola clinched a facile 63-run win over Jahangirabad Central Zone in their first match to keep them in a favourable position. On the other hand, Chandrodip tasted a thumping 211-run defeat at the hands of Varendra North Zone.
Going by the performance of the two teams, Chattola East Zone will take the field as the favourite. A victory will however bolster their position to move to the final of the Games cricket event.
The cricket event in the Games is a single-league basis tournament in which two finalists will be decided, based on the points. The final will be held on April 10, the day when the curtain of the Games will be closed.
The two teams that did not qualify for the final will depart Barishal on April 9 while the two finalists will leave Barishal on April 11, as per the decision taken by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
