BSS, Chattagram :
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossen on Thursday said if the boat, election symbol of Awami League, becomes victorious in the forthcoming polls, Chattagram will be turned into an economic hub of South Asia with Mireshwarai as its centre.
The minister said this while exchanging views with the journalists at his residence at Dhoom union in Mireshwarai here.
“There is no alternative to pro-liberation forces for maintaining continuity of development and progress of the country,” said Mosharraf, the ruling party candidate for Chattagram-1 (Mireshwarai) seat.
The anti-liberation forces made the country a haven for militants and terrorists during their rule for 28 years out of 47 years of independence, said the minister. On the contrary, he said, the ruling Awami League endowed the country with development and prosperity.
Chaired by a local journalist organization ‘Subandhan’ president and Chattagram Press Club Finance Secretary Dev Dulal Bhowmik, the meeting, among others, was addressed by Subandhan General Secretary and Publication Secretary of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) Ahmed Kutub, Acting Editor of local newspaper Bangladhara Ferdous Shipon and Subandhan members Bishwajit Pal and Hossain Jiad.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Executive member Azhar Mahmood moderated the programme.
The minister said if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is re-elected Mireshwarai will be developed as a town as the country’s biggest economic zone is being set up here.
