At least three persons were killed and four others injured when a truck collided head-on with a auto-rickshaw in Chattogram city’s Bakolia on Friday.
The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Md Wahid Mia, 52, Md Shahid Mazi, 62, and Md Abdul Mannan, 40.
A sand-laden truck crashed into the auto-rickshaw at 12:15pm, killing the trio on the spot, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakolia Police Station Md Moinuddin.
“Their bodies have been sent to hospital morgue for autopsy,” the OC said.
The country saw 439 road fatalities from 417 accidents in November 2020, according to Road Safety Foundation. And 5,227 people died on Bangladeshi roads from 4,702 accidents in 2019, said Nirapad Sarak Chai.
