Recorded container handlings experienced in the Chattogram Seaport in this week. Chattogram Port handled 4000 TEUs containers in 94 hours from June 27 last at sJetty No.10 . Panama flag vessel MCC Sebu arrived at the No.l0 berth of CP at 9 am of June 27 last with 1,915 TEUs containers of import cargos .
After completion of unloading of these containers, 2,095 TEUs container of export consignment were loaded in same vessel within this period . Mentionable that without the help of Key Gantry cranes , container vessel MCC Sebu unloaded and loaded these container with it own Gear cranes. After completion of unloading and loading of 4000 TEUs caontainer, the vessel left for Port Kelang of Malaysia at early morning of July 1 last.
While contacted Director(Transport) of CP Enamul Karim told this correspondent that without the use of Key Gantry crane, MCC Sebu vessel unloaded these huge containers by vessel’s gear cranes. Berth operator Bashir Ahmed & Company sources said MCC Sebu recorded highest handlings of container by their own gear cranes.
Port Users Forum sources said following the increase of modern handling equipments in port operation, the container handlings wlll be increased with desired goal.
