Leaders of different trade bodies, entrepreneurs, economists and leaders of different political parties today hailed the just announced proposed national budget for the fiscal 2018-2019 terming it as a pragmatic and development-oriented one.
In an instant reaction, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CCCI) Mahbubul Alam welcomed the budget saying it will play a positive role in growth of different work strategies in business, investment and poverty alleviation.
He said the highest allocation in public administration and ICT, after education sector will help achieve the target for building of skilled manpower.
The CCCI President urged the government for special allocation in ongoing different mega projects including eight lines Dhaka-Chittagong highway, elevated expressway and development of rail communication to and from Chattogram.
President of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries Monowara Hakim Ali said the more allocation in education sector would increase ongoing quality education in the country particularly at primary level.
Terming the proposed budget as production and employment opportunity oriented one, the women chamber president said the business entrepreneurs will get encourage to invest in industrial sectors.

City Jatiya Party (JP) leader Solayman Alam Sheth said though the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 is apparently ambitious but it is development oriented one.
Hailing the proposed budget, Law Affairs Secretary of Chattogram city Awami League (AL) and President of Chattogram District Bar Association Advocate Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury said the pro-people budget would play a significant role to boost up economy, poverty alleviation, improvement of quality education, empowerment of women establishing a Digital Bangladesh.
Chittagong city AL and its front organizations also brought out separate processions welcoming the budget.
The procession led by city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin started from the city’s Darul Fazal market and ended at the Muslim Hall institute after parading different important city streets.
