3 arson cases: Chargesheets against Khaleda, 83 others accepted

 The Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Wednesday took cognizance of three charge sheets against 84 leaders and activists of BNP-led 20-party alliance, including Begum Khaleda Zia, in three cases filed under the Special Powers Act with Darus Salam Police Station.
Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the court took cognizance of the cases after scrutinizing the charges and also issued arrest warrants against 72 leaders and activists of the alliance, including BNP leaders — Amanullah Aman, Maruf Kamal Khan, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia and Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, showing them fugitives.
The court directed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darus Salam Police Station to submit a report on execution of the arrest warrants by October 18.
On January 29, 2015, a group of miscreants allegedly torched a bus of ‘Projapati Paribahan’ at Section-1 of Mirpur in the city. Following the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Darus Salam
Police Station, M Anwar Hossain filed a case against 25 people.
M Jubayer, another SI of the same police station and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, submitted a charge sheet against 27 leaders and activists of BNP, including Khaleda Zia and Amanullah Aman in May, 2016.
On February 2, last year, another group of miscreants allegedly torched a passenger-mini bus at Darus Salam area in the city during the countrywide indefinite blockade. Later, another SI of the police station M Abdur Razzaq filed a case against 29 people, while SI M Raihanuzzaman, also the investigation officer, of the case, submitted a charge sheet to the court against 33 persons, including Khaleda Zia.
