Avijit Roy murder: Chargesheet against 6 finalised

Law enforcers have finalised the chargesheet against six persons, including sacked army Major Zia, in blogger Avijit Roy murder case.
The chargesheet was sent to the Home Ministry on Monday for its approval, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam said in a press briefing in the DMP Media Center on Monday moning.

In the chargesheet, it is mentioned that the murder took place under the direct supervision of Syed Mohammad Ziaul Huq alias Major Zia, according to a press release of CTTC.
Five other accused are Mozammel Hossain alias Saymon, Abu Siddiq Sohel alias Sakib alias Sajid, Arafat Rahman Siam alias Sajjad, Shafiur Rahman Farabi and Akram Hossain Abir alias Adnan.
Of them, Saymon, Sohel and Arafat Rahman have already given their confessional statement in the concerned court.
Although, eleven people were suspected to have taken place in the murder, police framed charges against the six because the names and addresses of the other five could not be confirmed yet, Monirul Islam said adding that once their names and addresses are collected, police will submit a supplementary chargesheet.
Avijit, a Bangladesh-born US citizen, was hacked to death on Dhaka University campus when he along with his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya was returning from the book fair on February 26 of 2015. Bonya was critically injured in the attack.
