A Dhaka court on Tuesday fixed July 14 for hearing on whether a charge sheet submitted on May 26 against actress Kazi Nawshaba Ahmed in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act should be taken into cognizance or not.
Magistrate Mohammad Dider Hossain of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka set the new date after hearing.
Police Inspector Shawkot Ali Sarker of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case in the court.
The charge sheet says that accused Nawshaba committed offence while trying to tarnish the image of the country and hurt the sentiment of the people deliberately through delivering false and defamatory information under the ICT Act 2006.
Police arrested Nawshaba from Uttara area of the city on August 4, last year. Later, she was put on 4 and 2 days remand. On completion of the remand she was sent to the jail. However, later, on August 21, she secured bail from the respective court.
