Channel i celebrates 17th anniversary

Country’s one of the leading private satellite channels, Channel i celebrated its 17th anniversary
on the first day of October.
To mark the day in a befitting manner, the TV channel
held elaborate celebration programmes across the country.
In presence of eminent citizens of the country, the family members of the channel cut a founding anniversary cake
at zero hour of October 1.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, and State Minister
for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the ceremony
as invited guests.
Former minister Morshed Khan, BNP vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman, JSD leader ASM Abdur Rab, BNP leaders Iqbal Hossain Tuku, Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon
and Shamsuzzaman Dudu, and Maj Gen (Retd)
Syed Muhammad Ibrahim Bir Protik, among others, were also present on the occasion.
Editor of the Daily Samakal Golam Sarwer, Chief Editor
of the Daily Manabzamin Matiuur Rahman Chowdhury, Managing Director of the channel Faridur Reza Sagar, its Head of News Shykh Seraj, its directors Zahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun, and Mukit Majumder Babu, were present at the event.
Prominent singers Abdul Zabbar, Farida Parveen, Fakir Alamgir, Ferdaus Ara, Shafi Mandal, Shahin Samad, Bappa Mazumder, Polash, Rumana Islam, and Dithi Anwer delighted the audience through rendering songs
at the programme on that day.
Channel i features top quality productions with a focus
on popular drama serials, games shows, children’s
programmes, reality shows, films, comedy shows, news
and views and entertainment programmes.
For the past decade, it has held the highest market share among non-terrestrial channels in Bangladesh. Channel i is also the first satellite channel in Bangladesh to broadcast
modern western themed telefilms such as ‘PLAY’ directed by M-SIB. With the theme Hridoye Bangladesh, the channel started its journey on October 1 in 1999. n
