Chandpur Zila Parishad accords reception to 163 valiant freedom fighters in district

On the occasion of Mujib Jonmo Shoto Borsho, Chandpur Zila Parishad authority accorded a warm reception to as many as 163 valiant Freedom Fighters of the district at a function held on its own premises on Wednesday last.
Zila Parishad Chairman Osman Ghani Patwary chaired while District AL President and ex -Mayor of Chandpur Municipality Nasiruddin Ahmed was the chief guest.
 On arrival, all the freedom fighters of far- flung areas of the eight Upazilas of the district were warmly welcomed at the function. They were given crests as a mark of respect. Zila Parishad Chairman Osman Ghani Patwary handed over the crests.
 Due to Corona pandemic, many freedom fighters could not attend this reception, of course, said many freedom fighters..
However, Bir Protik Md Shahjahan Kabir, Bir Bikram Mohammad Salahuddin, Zila Muktijoddha Commander Md Jahangir Alam, Swadhinota Padak Winner Lady valiant freedom fighter Dr Syeda Badrunnahar Chowdhury, BLF Commander Hanif Patwary, Zila Parishad’s Chief Executive Officer Md Mizanur Rahman, Valiant Freedom Fighter and Matlab Uttar’s Upazila Chairman MA Kuddus, Matlab Uttar’s ex- Upazila Chairman and valiant Freedom Fighter Manjur Ahmed, District AL’s General Secretary and Valiant Freedom Fighter Abu Nayeem Patwary Dulal, District AL Vice President Engineer A Rob Bhuiyan, among others spoke on the occasion highlighting their gallantries and significant role in different war fields during the turbulent days in 1971’s Liberation War. Close kin of many freedom fighters also attended the function as due to sickness and pandemic, many freedom fighters could not attend in person.
 The speakers vehemently condemned the demolition of Bangabandhu’s sculpture in Kushtia a few days ago by miscreants and demanded exemplary punishment to the persons responsible soon. They paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu who, all through his life struggled for the freedom of the common people of Bangladesh.
 They also placed floral wreaths at the altar of Bangabandhu’s portrait at Zila Parishad premises.
