Due to strong wind and high wave, a vulnerable part (50 metres) of Chandpur Town Protection Dam at Puranbazar Horisava and ex-Fire Station Areas was suddenly damaged creating panic among locals on Monday.
Two dwelling houses were at once dismantled fearing erosion.
On getting the report, DC Anjana Khan Majlish, ADC (Gen) ( DS) A Al Mahmud Jaman, SP Milon Mahmud , Municipal Mayor Jillur Rahman Jewel ,local councilors and Water Dev Board’s Superintending Engineer Shafiqur Rahman visited the vulnerable spot and assured the local people that sand- filled bags and blocks would be dumped at once to save the dam from farther erosion.
