Bid to grab KEPZ land: Chamber VP, 2 UP chairmen sued

Korean Export Processing Zone Authority filed a case against fifty persons including Vice President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce, two UP chairman of Patiya and Anowara.
KEPZ Block In-charge Md. Solaiman filed the case before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court on Thursday .
 Metropolitan Magistrate Nowreen Akhter accepted the petition in cognizance after hearing and order the Karnaphuli thana to lodge the complaint as FIR. The main alleged accused in the case are Vice President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Syed Jamal Ahmed, Barautan UP chairman Didarul Alam, Barirag U P chairman Noab Ali, local youths Liakat Karim, Md. Jahangir, Md. Zafar, Md. Elias, Md. Anowar Hossain, Md. Liton and other 40-45 unidentified persons.
Court sources said , local influential land grabbing group equipped with arms with the patronization o the accused forcibly cutting earth in KEPZ area on June 2 last and attacked the on duty security guards of the KEPZ while asked about cutting of land. As a result, 4 security guards were injured in the attack of the muscle gang. The injured now are under treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Chittagong On the other hand, Managing Director of KEPZ Brig.(Retd)Hasan Nasir alleged that Karnaphuli thana police harassed the officials of the KEPz while went to police station to lodge a FIR and finding no alternative KEPZ authority compelled to lodge the case before the CMM court .
In this connection, a press meet was arranged at Chittagong Press Club on Thursday by KEPZ authority where Managing Director Hasan Nasir was present.
While contacted VP of Chittagong chamber told that on that day of incident , he was in Dhaka and he did not know any thing about it.
