UNB, Dhaka :
The Appellate Division chamber judge on Tuesday forwarded the government plea, seeking a stay on the operation of a High Court judgment over shifting its primary school at city’s Bailey Road, to its full bench for hearing on September 7.
In compliance with the HC judgment, the school named, ‘Samajik Shikkha Sarkari Prathamik Bidyalaya’ established on the premises of Bangladesh Girl Guides Association in 1962, was dismantled during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana passed the order, turning a blind eye to the government plea.
The government filed the stay petition as it prefers to seek leave-to-appeal against the February 20 High Court judgment.
Emerging from the court, Additional Attorney General Murad Reza told reporters that the matter will be resolved in the full bench, while Munsurul Huq Chowdhury, the counsel for Bangladesh Girl Guides Association, said the HC judgment remains in operation as the chamber judge did not entertain the government plea.
Bangladesh Girl Guides Association claims that the school was set up at its site.
