Renowned cultural personality and language veteran Kamal Lohani stressed on increased and accurate practice of mother language both in family and social environment.
He made the comment while addressing a certificate distribution programme on the proper use of mother language, organised by Quantum Foundation on Saturday in the capital.
Observing that we have to be more cordial in order to master our mother language both in family and social environment, he said, “Language is the main thing we use in regular basis in our life. Language is the medium through which we express ourselves.
We have to be more cordial to the language that we have learnt from our mother and motherland.”
He also said without accurate use of Bangla it is not possible to become a real Bengali. We are from different religion and ethnicity, but our common identity is Bengali. We should be sincere in teaching Bangla to our children.
“We have to avoid inappropriate use of Bangla. It is like killing the language.”
The language veteran criticised the use of English in all aspects of life, saying, “The use of English is the symbol of our lower mentality.”
Mentionable, Quantum Foundation have been organised such programme since 2003.
