Chittagong Bureau :
Watchdog of the port city , Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) yesterday ordered over 50 building owners of Mehedibag to demolish the unauthorized structures on both sides of Mehedibag road in the city within next 15 days. The buildings were constructed at least a decade ago defying the CDA master plan, CDA sources said. A special team of CDA, led by its chief city planner engineer Shahinul Islam Khan and authorized officer Mohammad Shamim gave the order to undertake the demolitions.
CDA sources said the high-rise concrete structures were built occupying roadside government lands which lead to severe traffic jam in the city. CDA has undertaken a project to expand the 1.5 kilometre long road from Kazir dewri -Mehedibag to Goolpahar at a cost of Taka 40 crore.
Meanwhile Chittagong City Corporation evicted 50 unauthorised installations from Mansurabad area on Tuesday in a day long eviction drive led by mobile court.
