Police have decided to install close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Dhaka University’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) following the murder of writer-blogger Avijit Roy.
Shahbagh and Central Shaheed Minar will also be brought under CCTV camera surveillance, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohammad Asaduzzaman Miah said on Saturday.
He was speaking at a seminar on the campus on police’s contribution to the
Liberation war and role to protect democracy and human rights.
Asaduzzaman said the entry and exit points of the city and the diplomatic zone had already been brought under CCTV camera surveillance.
“It will make tackling crimes and identifying criminals easier,” he said.
